Address the Board
It shall be the policy of the Kishwaukee College Board of Trustees to encourage any individual or lawful organizations to address the Board if their desire is the furtherance of the educational objectives and philosophy of Kishwaukee College. Statements to the Board will be limited to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Exceptions to this time limit may be made at the sole discretion of the Board Chair.
Since it is the duty of the President of Kishwaukee College to prepare the agenda for the meeting of the Board of Trustees, it is necessary for individuals or organizations to observe the following procedure should they desire to address the Board when in regular session:
- Write a formal letter to the President of the College or the Chair of the Board of Trustees requesting permission to address the Board. The letter must be received at least ten (10) days in advance of the Regular or Special Board meeting;
- Designate the individual who will address the Board;
- State fully the reason for the request;
- A copy of any written material to be presented to the Board at any such appearance shall accompany the request to be address the Board;
Individuals wishing to address the Board relative to an agenda item already on the posted agenda for an upcoming meeting may make a request to do so within ONE BUSINESS DAY following the date the Agenda is posted.
The Board Chair reserves the right to limit the number of individuals or groups who will be recognized to speak, and to terminate public comment which is abusive or disruptive.
The Board Chair will have the authority to determine procedural matters regarding public participation not otherwise defined in Board Policy.
