Kish Kougars basketball, bowling teams celebrate achievements

The Kishwaukee College Men’s Basketball Team, Men’s Bowling Team and Women’s Bowling Team each wrapped up successful seasons filled with individual accolades and team accomplishments. 

“Kishwaukee Athletics and Kishwaukee College are proud of our student-athletes and coaches for their hard work and success this season. They are a great example for future Kish Kougars who want to take their game to the next level,” said Scott Kawall, Kishwaukee College Director of Student Involvement, Athletic Director.

Men’s Basketball

The Kougars won the Arrowhead Athletic Conference Title with a 5-1 record in conference play. It was the first time the Men’s team won the conference title since the 2014-2015 season. In addition to the team’s success, Head Coach Michael Poindexter Jr. was named Arrowhead Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Ramsey Bethel was named the conference’s Player of the Year and earned All-Arrowhead Conference First Team honors. Ben Larry and Zaheem Jackson were named to the All-Arrowhead Conference Second Team. Overall, the Kougars finished 12-15, improving from last season’s 8-20 record. 

Men’s and Women’s Bowling

Kish’s Men’s and Women’s Bowling teams competed at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships in Lansing, Mich. For the women’s team, Paige Lewis and Kymberly Lipps made program history as the first Kish women’s bowlers to qualify for the national championship, placing 40th and 66th in singles and 15th in doubles. The men’s team returned to the national championship competition for the second consecutive year, highlighted by Jack Bingley’s 29th-place finish in the all-events standings. Bingley and teammates Thomas Burki, Nick Bingley, Hunter Kirby, Brenden Stanley and Aiden Matson placed 15th in the team standings.
