Kishwaukee College welcomed Scott Kawall as its first Director of Student Involvement. Kawall assumed his new position on January 18.
The new Director of Student Involvement will oversee student activities - including student organizations and clubs, Student Government and Intramurals - and assume the duties of Athletic Director.
Kawall comes to Kishwaukee with a broad spectrum of student life experience, both as a student himself and as a professional in higher education. A community college graduate from Waubonsee where he played baseball, Kawall also holds a B.A. in History Education from the University of San Diego where he received a full-ride athletic scholarship in baseball, and an M.S.Ed. from Northern Illinois University in Adult and Continuing Education. He was inducted into the Waubonsee Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. Kawall resides in Somonauk with his wife and three daughters.
Prior to Kishwaukee College, Kawall’s experience includes positions at Waubonsee Community College as a Recruitment and Retention Specialist and Intramural Director; Assistant Director of Admissions for Rockford University; Campus Director at ITT Tech; Director of Admission at Westwood College; and, most recently, Center Director (accelerated learning programs) at Concordia University in Mequon, WI.
Kawall’s extensive experience perfectly positions him to be the first Director of Student Involvement at Kishwaukee College. “This position is a great opportunity to relaunch and re-shape student programming at Kish,” he stated. “By gathering activities and athletics under one umbrella, we can connect with the students in a new way.”
Since joining the College staff, Kawall has been getting to know the history of both Student Activities and Athletics at Kishwaukee and is planning to create a Campus Activities Board, establish an Intramurals Program, and emphasize recruitment of local athletes to the College’s Athletic Programs. “I am committed to making the local community and the campus community proud of Athletics and Student Activities as we move forward,” he said. “I am very excited about the opportunities that are ahead for Student Involvement at Kish!”
