The Kishwaukee College Financial Aid Office will be hosting a free workshop to assist local students with filing the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on October 15 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in room A1345 on Kish campus. Participating students and their parents should plan on spending approximately 30 minutes to complete the FAFSA. Participants should park in Lot A and enter through door 16 or door 17, near the Kish Conference Center.
The FAFSA is the building block for all financial aid packaging for college students across the U.S. Filing the FAFSA is the first step in determining what federal or state financial aid a student is eligible for including grants and loans. The 2020-2021 FAFSA application period opens October 1 and will be used in determining financial aid for the academic year beginning Fall 2020.
The FAFSA Completion Night allows area students and their parents an opportunity to fill out the FAFSA form with assistance from Kish’s financial aid professionals. Any area student and parent(s) who would like assistance is welcome to attend the FAFSA Completion Night.
Students should bring their 2018 tax and income information. Students whose parents claimed them as dependents on their 2018 taxes will need to bring their parents’ information as well. Students and parents should know their social security numbers and driver’s license number or alien registration numbers.
In preparation for the workshop, people filing FAFSA for the first time should visit http://fsaid.ed.gov/ to create a Federal Student AID ID (FSA ID), which will be required to submit the FAFSA electronically.
