Program Information

The Basic Nursing Assistant Training (BNA) course/program is designed for students interested in working in long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and hospitals. This sixteen or eight-week course includes 135 hours of instruction, 95 hours of theory and laboratory, and 40 hours clinical experience. Approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Course credit is not applicable toward Kishwaukee College degree or certificate program requirements. Five hours lecture/discussion and four hours lab a week.

All students successfully completing the course must take and pass the “hands-on” skills and written, state approved competency evaluation. With successful passing, the students name is placed on the nurse aide state registry.

BNA and BNA Recertification Informational Meetings:

It is recommended that all persons interested in Kishwaukee College's BNA/CNA Program or BNA/CNA Recertification Class attend an Information Meeting to understand all criteria. We can answer all of your questions at that time. Registration is not required.  All informational meeting dates and times are subject to change.  Please refer back to this page for all current dates and times prior to attending an information meeting.

In the event the college should be closed for any reason beyond our control, an announcement will be made on local radio stations, posted on the college web site, as well as on the college automation answering system.

CNA Certificate Program (NUR 100)

Informational Meetings will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in B1264 (BNA Lab) on the following dates:

CNA Recertification Class (NUR 108)

Informational Meetings will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm in B1264 (BNA Lab) on the following dates:

  • August 8, 2017
  • September 12, 2017
  • October 10, 2017
  • November 7, 2017
  • December 12, 2017

Please Note: Participants to the Recertification Informational Meeting should review the skills videos available at nurseaidetesting.com prior to the meeting. Please bring with a B/P cuff, stethoscope and gait belt to this informational meeting.
