Humanities

Humanities

Humanities are an interdisciplinary exploration that includes history, philosophy, literature and the arts. It examines the development of ideas and the expression of ideas throughout history, up to and including contemporary society. Students learn to interpret individual works of literature, art and historical tracts in the broader context of philosophical and societal movements of the period of their origin, as well as in the influence of those works in the context of modern society. The humanities are studied as the framework of intellectual, moral and artistic movements through history. The uniqueness of a study of the humanities is that gaining an understanding the literature, history, philosophy and art of the past, can heavily influence current and future expressions in those fields.
