The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest award presented to an alumnus by the Kishwaukee College Foundation. The award recognizes an alumnus or alumna who has brought recognition to the College through professional achievements, affiliations, leadership and community impact.

Recognizing this year’s recipient for their professional achievements, leadership, and impact on the Kishwaukee College community.

Andy Sullivan — 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award Winner

Andy Sullivan, DeKalb County Sheriff, received the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award for his leadership and service. A Kish graduate, he built a lifelong law enforcement career serving his community while continuing his education, exemplifying commitment to public safety and lifelong learning.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Review the eligibility requirements and selection criteria for the Distinguished Alumni Award, including qualifications and factors considered during the nomination process.

Nominees must have earned a degree or certificate of completion, or completed at least 45 credit hours at Kishwaukee College. Selection may also consider the following:

  • Established in their profession and/or community
  • Demonstrated outstanding contributions to Kishwaukee College and/or the community
  • Support of the College through involvement, internships, or philanthropic contributions
  • Demonstrated integrity and leadership

An individual is not eligible to receive the award if they:

  • Are currently a candidate for public office
  • Are a member of the award selection committee
  • Are a previous recipient of the award
  • Serve on the Kishwaukee College Foundation Board of Directors or Board of Trustees
  • Are employed by the Kishwaukee College Foundation

Past Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients

Matt Duffy, Executive Director of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, received the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award for his leadership and community impact. A Kish graduate, he built a diverse career and strengthened partnerships between the College and local businesses to support workforce and economic development.

Adam and Jessica Honiotes received the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award for their leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact. Kish graduates, they have built successful careers in health care and public safety while growing local businesses and enhancing community spaces at Shabbona Lake.

John and Jenny Hall received the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award for their leadership and community impact. Kish graduates, they founded DeKalb County United and its youth academy, creating opportunities for athletes and strengthening community connections through soccer and youth development.
