Nurse Aide Competency Exam

After completing NUR 100 (Basic Nurse Assistant Training), students are eligible to take the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Exam and earn certification on the Illinois State Nurse Aide Registry.

Registration Requirements & Testing Dates
How scheduling works
- Eligibility confirmation: Your instructor must submit proof that you are eligible to test.
- View test dates & register: Once eligibility is confirmed, visit nurseaidetesting.com to view available test dates and complete registration.
- Exam fee is due at registration
- Test dates are set by Kish instuctors and Testing Services
- Choose exam format: Please select the online exam. Registration must be completed at least 48 hours before testing
- Note: Kish does not offer the paper exam unless it is for an approved accommodation
Important notes
- Registration without eligibility approval will delay or invalidate your exam.
Exam Day
- Testing takes place in Testing Services
- Bring a government-issued photo ID
- For the online exam: You will not be able to test without login credentials
Accommodations
If you have a documented learning or physical disability and need testing accommodations, requests must be submitted in advance. Your instructor or program coordinator must contact the SIU Nurse Aide Testing Program in writing. Accommodation requests must be received at least 30 days before your scheduled test date.
