Transfer Planning Timeline

A successful transfer starts with early planning. Whether you’re pursuing an associate degree or completing general education credits, following a clear timeline can help you stay organized and meet important deadlines. Here’s a year-by-year roadmap to guide you through your transfer journey—from your first semester at Kish to your final steps toward transferring to a four-year college or university.

First Year At Kish

1. Meet with a Kish academic advisor to discuss a major.
2. Complete an academic plan for your intended major with your advisor.
3. Research several transfer schools that have the major(s) you are looking for.
4. Visit transfer school campuses to find the best fit. Speak with students, staff, and faculty while you are there.
5. Complete 32 credits at Kish in your first year.

Second Year At Kish

1. Finish visiting school campuses and make your choice on where you would like to transfer.
2. Submit your application for admission to transfer school(s) of choice.
3. Send your official transcripts from Kishwaukee College to your transfer institution of choice.
4. Submit your graduation application at Kishwaukee College in your last semester at Kish.
5. Upon the posting of final grades at the end of the semester, resend your official transcript to your transfer institution of choice.
